About piercing

Piercing (body piercing) is another way of body decoration commonly used by piercing enthusiasts (modern primitives) at these days that dates back to the deep past and that comes from the traditions of primitive nations, ethnic groups and tribes.

Piercing is a method of human body decoration when the needle penetrates the skin/tissue and then the jewellery is placed into the penetrated skin/tissue. All the technologies and materials used for the body piercing at these days such as metal alloys from which the body jewellery is made of, instruments, single used needles, desinfection and sterilization techniques etc. are the highest medical standards and therefore this way of a body decoration is considered safe.

Fresh piercing aftercare - in general

! Do not ever touch your piercing with dirty hands !
! Stay away from swimming pools, saunas, jacuzzi or sunbath studios for at least one month !
! Do not wear too tight cloths over the piercing area, wear loose and comfortable fashion to reduce the mechanical irritation of the piercing !
! Do not use drugs during the healing period !
! In case of any problem contact your piercer immediately !

Cleaning:
Buy any kind of antibacterial soap (protex, for example – solid or liquid) and the natural sea salt (the best one is the dead sea salt). Mix one tea spoon of salt with 1dcl of water (make fresh solution every day) and use the cotton stick to clean the wound around the piercing and move the jewellery back and forth to get the solution into the piercing. Do this procedure 6 times a day for one month and 3 times a day next two months. Wash your piercing with antibacterial soap. Make sure that the soap gets inside the piercing by moving the jewellery back and forth and let it work for few minutes, then rinse it throughly to make sure that the soap is completely washed away from the wound. Any manipulation with piercing requiers perfectly clean hands!

Healing:
Soon after the aplication the greenish or yellowish secretion from the wound may occur. This is the normal healing process not an infection. Do not start to use any antibiotics. The skin around the piercing may get red and may start to peel off slightly. Piercing is the most sensitive for the first two weeks, after this time the cleaning of your piercing should have been much less painful. If the pain resists after two weeks, the wound starts to swell and the secretion is stronger, then it means that something goes wrong and in that case we recommend to contact the piercer for an advise (possible infection).

We do not recommend any stronger alcohol based desinfections or any antibacterial ointments (such as bactroban etc.) for the cleaning. Alcohol causes overdrying/dehydration and greasy ointments may cause trickling of the wound. Use of the antibiotics is suitable only if the stronger infection occurs. Contact your piercer in case of necessity for an advice.

Tongue piercing aftercare

! Do not ever touch your piercing with dirty hands !
! Do not use drugs during the healing period !
! No oral sex and kissing for at least two weeks !
! In case of any problem contact your piercer immediately !

Cleaning:
Do not eat for 8 hours after the aplication. Do not smoke for 24 hours after the aplication and try to reduce smoking as much as possible. Buy any kind of mouthwash and rinse your mouth at least three times a day for two or three weeks. Rinse your mouth for 30 to 60 seconds (or as recommended). Any other kind of cleaning always discuss with the piercer! Any manipulation with piercing requiers perfectly clean hands! You can also support the healing by taking an extra dosage of vitamin C and zinc.

Healing:
Few hours after the aplication the tongue swells. This may take usually 5 to 7 days. Because of the swollen tongue it is necessary to have a longer stud (barbell) in your tongue piercing. This jewellery will be changed for another one with the shorter stud for your comfort after 3 weeks. Do not play with your tongue jewellery between your teeths, because the metal balls may cause a damage to them. If you do this and the metal balls are often in contact with your teeths then we strongly recommmend you to change the metal balls for the acrylic ones. Every once a while tighten your jewellery ball to make sure you do not swallow it. Even in case this happens you do not have to worry, it will not harm you.

Lip piercing aftercare

! Do not ever touch your piercing with dirty hands !
! Stay away from swimming pools, saunas, jacuzzi sunbath studios for at least one month !
! No oral sex and kissing for at least two weeks !
! Do not use drugs during the healing period !
! In case of any problem contact your piercer immediately !

Cleaning:

Then move the jewellery back and forth. Do this procedure until the secretion from the piercing stops. You can support the healing by taking the extra dosage of vitamin C and zinc.
