Tattoo – FAQ

Does tattooing hurt?

Questions about the pain of the tattooing process itself are among the most frequently discussed questions. Each individual perceives the discomfort that tattoo application entails in a very different way. There are also people who are able to fall asleep while tattooing. It should be mentioned that it depends a lot on which part of the body the tattoo is done. Locations that can be considered more sensitive definitely include the area of the ribs, calves, instep and chest.

Are disposables used for each customer?

Yes, tattoo needles are strictly for single use, as are the bioplastic cups into which the tattoo ink is dripped. The grips in which the needlebar with tattoo needles is placed are usually made of hard plastic and are disposed of after use. Stainless steel grips can be used repeatedly after their mechanical cleaning in an ultrasonic bath with a disinfectant solution and their subsequent sterilization in a sterilizer. It always depends on the specific technology that the artist uses for his work. The possibility of the customer contracting hepatitis or the HIV virus is zero. Nevertheless, we warmly recommend all clients who plan to get a tattoo to seek services only from verified and trustworthy tattoo shops with a long history and good reputation.

Can a tattoo fade or change over time?

Yes, it can. The tattoo needs to be protected from ultraviolet radiation under all circumstances, regardless of whether it is natural exposure to the sun’s rays outdoors or the effect of UV lamps in solariums. It is always worth protecting your tattoo with a cream with a high UV factor. The appearance of tattoos changes over time, just like human skin, which naturally ages physiologically. Tattoo lines slightly widen with age and previously clearly visible details recede slightly.

Can the tattoo be removed or covered with another tattoo?

Tattoos can be removed. The best method you can use to remove a tattoo is a laser. Different laser pulse wavelengths are used for different pigment colors. Thanks to the high speed of the laser pulse, the crystals of the tattoo pigment are shattered into smaller and smaller particles, which are gradually washed away by your lymphatic system. It is a lengthy, uncomfortable and financially demanding process. Long breaks of several weeks need to be observed between individual sessions so that your skin has enough time to regenerate and thus prevent skin scarring. Smaller tattoos (cover-up) can be relatively easily covered. However, this presents a problem for larger, very dark units. This problem can be solved by lightening the existing tattoo with the laser therapy method mentioned above.

Is it possible to get a tattoo if I suffer from a skin disease such as chronic acne, psoriasis or atopic eczema?

In this case, tattooing is rather not recommended, as it could lead to a worsening of the already existing condition. We definitely recommend consulting this situation with your specialist doctor in the field of dermatology. Tattooing over fully healed scars is possible, but we absolutely recommend avoiding freckles and birthmarks.

How long does a tattoo take to heal?

A fresh tattoo will heal in about 2 to 3 weeks. For larger tattoos, the healing time can be extended by 1 to 2 weeks. The entire process of tattoo healing depends on the overall physical condition of the client and on strict adherence to the care of a fresh tattoo recommended by the tattoo artist.
